With the multitude of routers and gateway available now, and with different firmware versions, it is impossible for AT&T Support and us to keep up with how to access and verify unless someone here on the forum has the same router as you and is willing to share their knowledge.Īs a side note, if you have an iPhone 6 or greater you can look into using WiFi Calling (WiFi-C) as an option to see if you even need to use a MicroCell. To find and verify those settings you will probably have to ask the mfr if you can't find them youself. Cisco/AT&T developed the MicroCell around 8-10 years ago when routers and LANs were not as complex so the minimum requirements were easy to meet for most folks without even having to think about it. I would connect another device the same ethernet port that you are attempting to use for the MicroCell to see if the Netgear will detect that device. You need to have the router see the MicroCell (MAC address) first. I wouldnt worry about port forwarding yet.
Some newer routers seem to have changed the defaults or certainly made it more difficult to find and verify them. This sounds like a router issue if the Netgear doesnt even 'see' the MicroCell. The settings are fairly basic and are probably defaulted in your old router. The router requirements are given in the setup instructions and in my Tech Guide (see link in my sig). If you can, that indicates it's a router issue. I would defiantly recommend this product. I play video games and my connection was horrible I would lag out and couldnt play online due to my connection once I bought this router my connection got way better and my Internet speed got really fast. I would connect the MicroCell directly to the modem, bypassing the router altogether to see if you can establish connectivity to the AT&T Mobility Servers. The Netgear WNDR3700 Wireless Router improved my Internet speed and connection. I'm assuming that you are not going thru any switches, PowerLine adapters, etc and that your connection is a single, uninterrputed ethernet connection. Sometimes router mfrs will have certain default settings enabled that aren't compatible with the MicroCell and you have to work with them to determine that.
